Using AI categories to organize saved X likes
Understand topic browsing, background classification, manual corrections, and the choice to keep AI off.
Topics help with ideas; search helps with words
Keyword search is best when you remember wording. It only matches words found in saved text. AI categories provide a different route: they group imported posts by an interpretation of their subject, so posts with different vocabulary can be read together.
For example, a post about introductory emails and one about new-customer checklists may relate to the same broader subject. That is an illustration of categorization, not a promise of a particular label. The categories reflect the text in your own collection, rather than a universal list imposed on every account.
Enable categories only if you want them
You can opt into AI categories during signup or use Settings → Import & sync → AI categories. Text search, author browsing, archive importing, and exports work with AI turned off. You do not need to enable classification to build a searchable library.
When classification is enabled, saved post text and topic labels are sent to an external AI provider for processing. Your account email, password, X credentials, and payment details are not needed for that classification request. Read the privacy policy for provider handling and retention details.
Importing and classification have separate progress
A browser import collects and uploads posts. AI classification happens on the server after the text is saved. You may see imported posts before they have a topic, and classification can continue after the browser closes. Closing the browser still interrupts the separate browser collection process.
Check the category progress in your account if work is pending or being retried. A delay in labels does not mean that the uploaded posts disappeared. Search for their saved words or use Authors while categorization continues.
Review a topic before relying on it
AI can misunderstand a joke, a very short post, or text whose context is in a linked page. A precise label is still an interpretation. Open the group and read several posts to decide whether it is useful for your task.
When your account has import access, you can change a post’s topic in the library. Manual corrections are preserved rather than overwritten by later automatic classification. A correction changes your library’s organization; it does not edit the original post on X.
Uncategorized is a useful signal
Some posts do not contain enough clear text for a confident topic. Leaving them Uncategorized is preferable to giving them a misleading label. You can still read them, search their text, and browse their author.
For a post consisting mainly of a picture or a link, the stored text may not express the subject you remember. Categories do not make every image, linked article, or thread searchable. Combine topic browsing with the keyword workflow and original sources.
You can change your choice later
You can turn AI categories off in Settings. Turning the setting off cannot undo requests already processed by the external provider. For questions about that boundary, see the privacy guide and the policy.
Use the fictional demo collection to try topic browsing before connecting your own posts. If topics are useful, include a small amount of category review in your regular reading routine rather than treating the labels as unquestionable facts.
