Privacy & portability

Privacy when importing and saving your X likes

Check the boundaries between your X account, your private library, optional AI processing, and downloaded files.

Your X interactions and your library are separate

Importing posts into Likes Library does not publish your collection as a public page. The hosted library is private to your account and requires authentication. The public demo contains fictional sample posts, not customer collections.

This does not change the visibility or notification rules of an action you take on X. For example, X’s notification guidance includes likes among account interactions. Do not assume that storing a post privately makes the original interaction anonymous. X Bookmarks are a separate native feature with its own privacy behavior.

Understand what the extension reads

The Chrome and Firefox extensions work while you are signed into X in your own browser. Each reads available liked-post information from X pages and sends imported records to the connected Likes Library account. It does not need you to hand over your X password, and it does not request your direct messages or unrelated browsing history.

Install it through the Chrome installation guide or Firefox installation guide and check which library account it is connected to. Treat connection tokens as account access details: do not paste them into public issues or support messages. You can disconnect extensions through your account settings.

Upload only the archive files you need

A complete X account archive can contain data beyond likes and posts. Extract the ZIP and select only relevant like or tweet files for importing. Likes Library does not require the full account archive, private messages, or contacts.

Keep the original archive private on your own storage. If you need help with an import, begin by sharing file names and an error message, rather than emailing the entire download. The archive guide explains supported files.

AI categories involve an optional external service

When you enable AI categories, post text and topic labels are processed by an external AI provider. Classification requests do not require your account email, password, X credentials, or payment details. AI is optional; you can use search and Authors without it.

This is a hosted service, rather than a promise that every operation stays on your computer. Turning AI off cannot undo processing already performed. The privacy policy describes service providers and retention boundaries, and the AI guide explains the setting and category behavior.

Protect downloaded files and shared devices

Your library’s sign-in does not protect a JSON file after downloading it. An export contains post text, author details when available, and topics that can reveal your interests. Store it somewhere private and check the contents before sharing it with another person or service.

On a shared computer, sign out when finished and avoid leaving exports in a shared Downloads folder. Review connected extensions when changing devices. The export guide explains what the file contains.

Clearing a library and deleting an account do different things

Clearing your library removes stored library posts. It does not unlike them on X, and it does not reset the free import allowance. Deleting an account removes its stored data, disconnects extensions, and cancels an active subscription. Make and verify any export you want to keep first.

Service backups and legally required payment records have separate retention considerations described in the policy. For a privacy or deletion question, contact support@likes-library.com. This article explains the product’s controls; the privacy policy remains the detailed reference for data handling.
