How to export your X likes as JSON
Download your data, understand the fields in an export, and reuse a file without creating duplicate posts.
Download the data from your account
Sign into your Likes Library account, open Settings → Account → Export your data, and choose Download JSON. You do not need the extension to download posts already stored in your account. Export remains available after a paid subscription ends.
The export contains your saved library records, including posts imported from supported X archives. It is not a new request to X and does not fetch likes missing from the library. For a larger collection, first finish importing the source data you want to include.
Understand the file’s structure
JSON is a text format for structured data. The export identifies its format as likes-library, includes a format version and export time, and contains a posts array. Each entry represents a saved post.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
id | The X post ID, stored as text |
text | The available post text saved in your library |
author_handle | The author handle, when known |
published_at | When the source post was published, when known |
liked_at | A known like timestamp, which may be absent |
topic_label | The library topic label, when assigned |
sources | Import sources associated with the saved record |
The file also includes available author details, text-quality information, topic descriptions, and indicators such as a manual topic choice. Some fields can be empty because the source did not supply them.
Keep IDs as text and distinguish the dates
X post IDs are long identifiers, not quantities. If you load the data into a spreadsheet or another tool, keep them as text to avoid rounding. An original link can be formed as https://x.com/i/status/POST_ID, replacing the placeholder with the unchanged ID; whether it opens depends on the post’s current availability.
Do not treat published_at as the time you liked the post. The publication date, like timestamp, and exportedAt describe different events. An unknown like timestamp should stay unknown. Replacing it with the import date would create misleading history.
Import a supported export again
The archive upload control in Settings → Import & sync accepts Likes Library JSON exports as well as supported X archive files. Keep an untouched copy of the export for that purpose. Matching post IDs are merged, so importing a file again does not create a second copy of the same post.
This is a post-data import, not a complete account restore. It does not restore your password, subscription, or extension connections. Larger imports are subject to account import access. See the import instructions before attempting a move or rebuild.
Use the copy without exposing your collection
You can use the file in your own local analysis or convert a working copy with a tool you trust. Keep the original JSON if you need to import it later. Likes Library does not currently offer a direct CSV download or a full media archive.
A download is no longer protected by the website’s sign-in. Store it privately and consider what it reveals before sharing it. For a sustainable copy routine, follow the backup guide. Before deleting your library, check that the records you need are present in the export.
